MountOcean is hunting the BIG five on safari

A question I often pose to my students: how does one “save the whales?”. The answer is oddly fortunate and economic – you make them more valuable alive than dead! This idea also translates to many of the charismatic megafauna that have become icons for conservation and protection of wildlife and wild places, and the big five game animals in Africa, is a perfect example.

So, we’ve loaded our gear into a classic Toyota Land Cruiser and MountOcean is hunting the big 5 by driving for 7-days across the most wild places in Africa! We’re on safari to the greatest wildlife parks in Tanzania including the Ngorongoro crater and the Serengeti National Park. These places are everything the documentaries attempted to portray and more. Mind blown every day!

The Big Five!

What are the big five? This term describes the hardest 5 animals to hunt while on foot. The big five game animals are the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo. Don’t worry, we’re NOT here to kill any animals, but rather to “hunt” them with the lenses on my camera while on safari. Because, this traditional hunting goal has been taken over by the ecotour trade, the big 5 is a rally for conservation of these animals and a goal for photo-hunters. Its original meaning has effectively changed to a call for conservation and that’s fantastic!

Incredible!

All the big charismatic mega fauna you’ve seen on the nature shows or in books or even watching the Jungle Book. Safari in Tanzania is exactly like you’ve imagined – only way better! I’ll just let the pictures do the talking! All our pictures were taken from inside the land cruiser.
